The little things

My friend Magdalena took these two pictures in Halifax (here is her photography page). At the moment, I am reeeally missing Halifax & the people there. I especially miss the independence and freedom that I have felt there. Here at home, nothing seems as if it has changed, but I feel like I have changed so much – it doesn’t quite fit at the moment I guess. However, this post shouldn’t be about what I miss about Halifax – it should evoke happy feelings!

People (myself included) tend to oversee the little things that we should all be grateful for. In 2018, I will try to be more thankful for the small details that I took for granted until now… So here is a list:

The feeling of sunshine on salty skin. Beaches. Eating porridge for dinner. Sweet meals. Clean sheets. Cute cafés. Love & saying I love you to someone. Music that instantly gets you. New friends who feel like you have known them forever. Flowers. Showers.

French. Laughing with the right people. Change. Sunrises & early mornings. Jumping on trampolines. Ice skating in winter. Mountains & lakes. Maps. People who radiate positivity. 3 a.m. conversations. (Shooting) Stars & looking at them.

Rooms with big windows. Sam Smith songs. Car drives while it’s raining.

Taking chances. Taking risks. Green tea. Almonds. Being able to see colours. Being able to run. The moon & how large it looks sometimes. Lying on your bedroom floor while thinking about life. Overwhelming feelings. Daydreaming. Trying new recipes.

Independency. All the times when the sky looks infinite. 90s hits. Driving with the windows down & sticking your hand out to feel the air. Naps. Summer nights. Letters.

Hot chocolate. Taking time for self-care. Bad years (because then you appreciate the good ones that follow). Dancing. Summer rain. When it starts to smell like spring.

This post inspired me to write this.

I hope you also feel a little inspired now.

Much love, Christine

Style: Zara Sale Picks

Everyone who knows me, knows that I am a little obsessed with Zara (a little being an understatement here haha). Which is also why I got super excited for their New Year’s Sale.

I found 4 pieces in the sale that I am absolutely in love with, and I just couldn’t keep myself from showing you! So here we go..

Red Bag

This bag is not only really cute and cheap, it also has such a nice dark red colour. For people like me (my closet consists of blacks, greys and nude colours) this is perfect for matching!

Blazer

This one is such a bargain! I saw this blazer two months ago in the shop and thought about getting it. However, I thought it was quite expensive – it was about 80 €. Buuut now it’s on sale and it’s nearly 50 € cheaper than before!! So, I took the chance and ordered it. Unfortunately, I feel like it doesn’t fit me properly (it’s quite long and doesn’t look good with my size), so I have to send it back!

Light Sweather

I already showed you the sweather in one of my last posts. It’s really casual and great for matching! It’s a good basic to have in your closet for one of those days, where you just don’t know what to wear.

I especially love using scarfs as an accessory for my handbag. It’s timeless and looks really chique and elegant. I couldn’t find the one I got in the shop, but I found another scarfs that looks really nice as well.

Recipe: Vegan Chocolate Spread

20180110_121406

Today, I have created a recipe for a chocolate spread that is not only vegan and much more healthy than other spreads, but also nut-free! When I tasted it, I just knew that I had to share the recipe with you guys – so here we go.

You will need…

(1 portion)

1 tbsp coconut oil

2 tbsp unsweetened cacao powder

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp agave syrup

1/2 tbsp rice drink

The recipe

Super quick & easy: Just mix all of the ingredients together! If you want it a bit sweeter, add some agave syrup. If the consistency is still too thick, add a little bit more of the rice drink.

20180110_12131920180110_121442

It tastes amazing with…

1 kornspitz

1 tbsp coconut oil

1 banana (cut into pieces)

I cut the kornspitz into slices (I seriously missed kornspitz so much during my stay in Canada) and „toasted“ it in a pan with the coconut oil. In the end, I added the banana pieces.

When you are done, just spread the chocolate cream on the bread slices. And you’re done. Quick, easy & so delicious if you are craving a sweet breakfast or brunch. It’s quite healthy & also nut-free, in case you are allergic or just don’t like nuts!

Enjoy!

Style: Overknees x 3

I recently bought overknee boots, which I automatically fell in love with. You can wear them many different ways, which is what I am going to show you today: 3 simple ways you can style overknee boots with!

Look #1 – Classy

20180115_152636

This one is more chique and elegant. You just need a nice skirt, a black shirt & the boots and you are good to go! I also wore some tights since it’s quite cold & some jewellery.

Here are the details

Boots: Asos (on sale)

Top: H&M (similar) or longsleeve

Skirt: H&M

Look #2 – Comfy

20180115_152915

Super comfy & cozy, and in my opinion just perfect for winter. A knitted dress looks really cute with overknee boots, and keeps you warm as well. Again, I wore some thin tights underneath.

Here are the details

Boots: Asos (on sale)

Knitted dress: H&M (similar)

Look #3 – Casual

20180115_152727

This style is super easy and casual. For me, this would be perfect for a day at university. Just grab a pair of black jeans & a sweater and you’re done and didn’t have to think too much about it – very convenient for early mornings!

Here are the details

Boots: Asos (on sale)

Sweater: Zara (on sale)

Jeans: Only (also featured here)

Do you own a pair of overknee boots? If so, how do you like to style them? Let me knooow!

New Years Resolutions 2018

b5b05aea3ca490efea980086e57237d0

2018 is here, and I have decided to write down my 18 new years resolutions! I feel like there is more power to it when you write your resolutions and goals down (either on paper or on your laptop). So here we go…

Get fit & healthy again

This year, I want to reach my usual weight again. I gained some weight last year (mostly due to stress and over-eating), and I finally want to stop that. In 2018, I am going to eat more healthy and work out as much as I used to when I was 18 and really athletic. This is the number one goal on my list for the next year!

Eat vegan

I want to eat vegan as often as I can! If you are interested in becoming vegan or vegetarian, I would recommend the documentaries Cowspiracy and Forks over Knives!! And even if you aren’t, it’s never bad to get more educated on different kinds of topics, so go watch them!

Meet my friends from Halifax

I would love to meet up with some of my friends from Halifax in Europe! I miss them already, and I want to take the time to see them again & catch up with them.

Stop binge eating

I always over-eat when I am stressed, which can happen quite easily. I want to leave that behing in 2017, and I also want to stop stressing so much.

Make money

After 5 months full of traveling, I want to earn some money with promotion jobs and my internship in summer, which I will probably tell you more about in a different blog post!

Visit Grüner See

I have never been there, and since it is so close I really want to go there in 2018!

Improve my French

I want to improve my French again. I’ve had it for 4 years in high school, and I don’t want to forget what I have learned! So, I want to watch french movies and read a french book this year.

Saying „Yes“ to new experiences

I want to get out of my comfort zone more. I am a person, who loves security and I tend to stick to the things that I know… This year, I want to change that!

Achieve something for my dream career

I want to focus on my goals and my career, and see where the future might take me.

Stand behind what I believe in

And finally, I want to stand behind what I believe in & stand behind my opinions.

Also, I want to you to watch these two speeches:

Oprah at the Golden Globes 2018

Finn Harries TED Talk

They have inspired me so incredibly much, and they are only 10 to 13 minutes long, which is nothing compared to the time your whole day has! Trust me, they are worth watching..

What are your resolutions for this year? Are they similar to mine or do you have totally different ones? I’d love to know!

Recipe: Winter Granola

20180102_212517

I try to jazz up my morning granola with different fruit whenever I can. Today, I tried a new mix again, and I love it! It’s made with tangerine, banana and dried dates – lots of seasonal fruits. The combination is delicious and so flavourful, you just need to try it!

Here’s what I used…

100 ml oat drink

1 tangerine

1 banana

2 medjool dates (dried)

30 g spelt granola

The recipe

1. Cut all of the fruit into small pieces & put them into a bowl.

2. Add the granola.

3. Heat up the oat drink in a pot.  When it starts to get hot, pour it into the bowl. You can also enjoy it cold, I just prefer my breakfast to be warm!

And now, enjoy! Super quick & so so yummy!!

Love, Christine
